Smethwick Hall Park Londonderry Lane Smethwick B67 7EQ UK.
As the name suggests, this is the actual land of the former Smethwick Hall and is laid out in a Terraced fashion.
The upper terrace is where the hall once stood (now a school).
The middle terrace, would have been the garden.
The lower terrace and now the main feature of the park, is it’s pool.
The majority of this particular park can be viewed from streetside. That being the case, there’s not much else to add in so far as the walk is concerned.
Although it does lend an appreciation in and of itself in our modern fast paced age. A constant reminder that, no matter how busy life gets. There’s always a place to take time out for yourself.
There is a saying: “You don’t know what you’ve got, until it’s gone. Everyone can relate to this I’m sure.
It is important to appreciate and express gratitude in our lives, from the littlest thing, to the more grandiose. After all. Have you ever noticed, the more you express gratitude. The more things appear in life to be grateful for?
So where exactly does that fit in with our current topic?
It was mentioned in 1/27 of this series: “Use them or lose them. Not to dwell on any negative aspects. It does happen and actually happened in my Town.”
Although not a “Park” in name. We’re talking here of the former Londonderry Playing Fields.
A positive outcome came of this particular episode. This was in the shape of what is now called: Sandwell Aquatics Centre, also on Londonderry Lane in Smethwick. It featured in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
It is suggested then, that we appreciate what we have, while we still have it.
Thank you for reading.
In our next post, we’re visiting West Smethwick Park.
