Having completed over a year of weekly posts, the majority of which having been on emotions. We should be, and feel, quite confident in our delivery.
That being said. As we now find ourselves on the final leg of the Emotions Wheel posts. This particular topic can be the hardest to express and is often the most misunderstood. And yet. It MUST be expressed in some way, in each of our lives for the betterment of all.
So what is Love?
The Britannica Dictionary states: –
Love
A feeling of strong or constant affection for a person. Attraction that includes sexual desire.
The strong affection felt by people who have a romantic relationship.
Naturally. Love extends beyond the description offered above into every area of life. There is love of our: Children. Siblings. Parents Extended family. Relationships in general. Pets. Home. Career. Projects. Hobbies and Pastimes etc.
One area that is most commonly overlooked is in our own needs and interests. We often consider the welfare of others to our own detriment. Whereas this may be considered an occupational hazard to some. It must not go unattended.
This is where we take a look at life from a Self-Help; Wellbeing and an Energy Healing point of view and we always begin with ourselves first.
When we wish for time to recharge, it can be very rewarding to just sit with ourselves and just let things be as they are. It is also often said that music is the greatest medium to express love and with that in mind. The following exercises are offered at this stage, and focus on the sounds around us: –
The Sound of Nature, Exercise 1:
Find a comfortable seat where you may close your eyes for a few moments and just relax.
Focus on the sounds around you and notice whether they’re near or far and if you find them pleasant or unpleasant. Should you find any that may be unpleasant. Just take a longer exhalation on the next breath, allowing yourself to be patient with it.
When you have finished with your focused session, you may wish to consider how it felt to be present with the sounds of your environment. If you had judgements – how did it feel to soften them with your exhalations?
Exercise 2:
If possible and you have time. Find a place in nature – away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Somewhere that you can feel comfortable and safe – in order to close your eyes and listen to the natural sounds of nature.
Be aware of the sounds you notice, do they stir anything in you?
If your mind wanders, just gently bring yourself back to the natural sounds around you.
Alternatively. If you are unable to physically go somewhere at this time, it can be worthwhile to play the sounds of nature on a cd for instance.
And again. When you are finished with this time out for yourself. You may wish to consider how this felt or what benefits you found in spending time in nature.
Thank you for reading.
Next Week. We’re discussing: Affectionate. Romantic. Fondness.
