I’d like to say a little on Parks in general, prior to talking of each one specifically.
Whereas they may often go unnoticed – to a point – when going about our busy lives. I equally feel it is important to not overlook them entirely. Rather, we ought to take in the benefits of having ready access to them also.
So the next time you find yourself within or near your local park. Why not take some time out for yourself and enjoy a little of what it has to offer.
For instance. If you regularly pass through a Park on route to your destination, why not start out 5/10mins earlier – if possible? Then use that time for yourself at the park.
Not all Parks have fantastic amenities, we know that.
Yet what each of them do have, is space to be enjoyed… In quiet contemplation perhaps. Or Meditation. A place to practice gratitude maybe. I find Parks good for all of those.
They all have to some extent, wildlife that may be observed – and respected. if you know where to look. The major benefit, is that you are out amongst nature for awhile, which can work wonders for you.
A word of warning must be included at this point.
We unfortunately live in times where we should be aware of our surroundings and the people around us. Please do inform your support network if this is something that you are newly adopting in your daily/weekly routine or so.
That being said. When we are practising gratitude, we are living “in the moment”. In doing so, we learn to become more mindful, more self-aware. And our senses grow through practice.
As you begin to show more appreciation of and (re)introduce yourself to the park, it begins to open itself to you also. You develop a greater infinity with it over time – this is true love of nature.
Now spare a thought for the reason behind the presence of the park.
Some were donated or bequeathed to the populace to enjoy a place of cleaner air. A given piece of land, away from factories and foundries.
Some were actually the homes, farms and therefore, livelihoods of our ancestors.
Last but not in any way least. The saying:
“Use them or lose them.” comes to mind. I mention this, not to dwell on any negative aspects. It is mentioned, because it does happen and actually happened in my Town, which is discussed in a later post.
Thank you for reading.
Next Week. We begin discussions of individual Local Parks.
