Life’s Playground

What came to mind when you read the title of this post?

Did you have a feeling of happiness?

Did you have a feeling of Sadness?

Were you intrigued at least?

Or were you indifferent?

The reality is that it can have as many meanings to as many people who are looking at it. This is because of our perception at the given time. In turn, our perception may be based upon how we currently feel at the time.
Likewise, when looking at an Emotions Wheel. Where we look can determine our thoughts and feelings.

Staying with perceptions and to give an example:
When life is going great for us and something perhaps unexpected but manageable crops up. We take it in our stride and deal with it unfazed. We may even refer to it as “a walk in the park”.
Which is a metaphor for how readily achievable it is to deal with.

Similarly. There was a record that came out way back in 1973 in the UK, called “Deck of Cards” by Max Bygraves. If you’re not familiar, then it may be worth your while searching it out. Using a card deck, it makes good use of perception.

We extend on metaphors and perception here, by way of Public Parks in general. They are quite fitting for such a topic. As regardless of how we are feeling. They remain a constant in our lives and can cover the majority of all that we face in life.

For instance:

Footpaths and Roads
With their varied gradients, they can be seen
as a challenge for some and a burden for
others.

Wooded areas
Are you lost in the woods of your reality?
Or are you thankful of this natural setting?
With the peace and comfort it offers, whilst asking nothing in return. A place to meditate perhaps.

Open Fields
Do you see yourself as being stuck in the middle of an open field and have no idea on which way to turn?
Or do you see yourself as outstanding in your field?

Pond/Lake
An ecosystem that just carries on regardless. Maybe it is purely still water. Or is there a feeder into it – somewhere you can sit awhile, with the gentle trickle of water as a backdrop to your contemplations?
Those systems are not without their issues. Take the ducks swimming on the surface for instance. They glide gracefully along in an apparently peaceful manner. Whilst directly below the surface, they’re kicking with all they have.

The point here, is that we may perceive many things as “a walk in the park”. All we have, is the road right in front. This truly is Life’s Playground.

So the real questions are:

Where are you at the moment in Life’s Playground?

How will you participate?

Will you react, or respond?

If you feel the need for more professional guidance, please seek it accordingly.

Thank you for reading.

Next Week. We have a 7Severn Update on this years progress.
