Extending on the exercise from last week’s post entitled: “Learning To Live More Positively” The following is offered:
Seeing Goodness in Others
This is practiced in and also praised by many cultures.
There are many benefits to be had by looking for good qualities in others. It can improve your relationships and serve to bring out the best in them. Whilst also offering them the gift of being “seen” from a place of kindness.
When you wake in the mornings – as part of a morning routine perhaps – set the intention to look for the good in the people you encounter.
As you meet someone, look for some good qualities about them.
Remember that, just like you. They wish to be safe, happy, and free from suffering.
Let your intention guide your actions as you speak and interact.
Notice how they respond to being seen and treated. Also notice your own internal responses towards them.
Caution. It can be a challenge in itself to find good qualities in strangers or difficult people. So please do involve any support network you may have if choosing to practice this exercise.
The Britannica Dictionary states: –
Enthralled
To hold the attention of (someone) by being very exciting, interesting, or beautiful.
Enchanted
To attract and hold the attention of (someone) by being interesting, pretty, etc.
To put a magic spell on (someone or something).
Rapture
A state or feeling of great happiness, pleasure, or love.
Another exercise on mindfulness to sum up this week’s post is:
Learning From Nature
Take yourself on a little journey now as you ponder the following considerations.
Alternatively. If you’re lucky to have a natural environment nearby. You may wish to spend some time there before answering the posed questions.
Consider the ongoing changes of the four seasons. Spring. Summer. Autumn. Winter. Then another cycle, and so on.
Consider the trees, as they extend roots into the invisible. Developing a mirror image in the sky above.
Consider the intricate relationship that exists in the natural landscape. In Wetlands. Rainforests. Fields. Forests. Oceans, and all other environments. Consider what is seen and what goes unseen.
Consider the way small seeds contain coding that turns them into fruits and vegetables. Consider the gift of each harvest.
Consider weather patterns that come and go – graceful or otherwise. Consider their power.
Consider your likeness to the Hummingbird. Squirrel. Wolf and Bear.
In what ways are you similar to animals of Earth?
Consider the miracle of nature – the wonder of it. Both around and within us, nature thrives inside each and every breath.
What does nature have to tell us about life?
What wisdom does it carry?
Have you ever experienced greater clarity after being in a natural setting?
What is the effect of stepping from the built up world and into a natural environment?
How much time do you spend contemplating nature?
How might you mindfully invite the natural world into your daily routine?
If the natural world was trying to tell you one thing right now, what would it be?
Finally. If it feels natural for you, take a moment to set a nature related intention.
Would you like to live in greater alignment with nature?
Do you wish to be more present with it, more devoted, more attentive to its messages?
Whatever intention arises within you, write it down and take a few moments to repeat it silently within heart and mind.
Thank you for reading.
Next Week. We’re bringing in the Love.
