Nowadays, our lives are generally of a much faster pace. Everything we do – it seems – is overlapped by something else and our days become such a blur, filled with “things we have to do”. It all seems like work and we go about in such a rush, rarely do we stop and think about what we’re actually doing.
We start to believe there’s not enough hours in the day. How many times do we say: “I wish I had more time?”
Well with the additional Bank Holiday this weekend, you do get an extra day off. So instead of using it to tick off another item on your To Do list. Why not take time out to actually calm down a little and enjoy the day for what it brings.
Ask yourself: What puts me in a state of Elation. Euphoria. Jubilation? And go about your day with that feeling in you.
The Britannica Dictionary states: –
Elation
To make (someone) very happy and excited.
Euphoria
A feeling of great happiness and excitement.
Euphoric
A euphoric mood. Feeling euphoric.
Jubilation
Great happiness or joy.
There is some excitement in the UK at the moment, with the Coronation of King Charles III. And whilst not everyone is supportive, it is an historic event all the same.
Yes there will be celebratory gatherings in his honour. Yet let us not forget the true meaning of gathering in this way. It is for meeting friends and strangers alike. Singing, dancing, chatting, or other merriment.
This Bank Holiday may be a good time to utilise the following exercise, entitled:
Learning To Live More Positively
Practice being more actively constructive in your conversations.
Later when you have time, think back on the conversations and write about your experience.
Note what proportion of encouragement you gave in relation to any criticism you gave.
Notice what effect this has on your relationships.
Notice how it felt for yourself to actively be working on this.
Did you look forward to the practice?
If you did, why was that?
If not, why was that?
So in the spirit of this Bank Holiday Weekend. If you’re a fan – celebrate accordingly.
If not. Then celebrate your own successes.
Either way. Celebrate a little or a lot. Meet with others and converse. Sing if you like to. Dance if you want to. Laugh if you will. Cry if you must. Above all else, have fun! and make happy memories.
In doing so. You will no doubt look back with fondness of the occasion as you say to others with a smile – Remember when…
