This week’s post begins with a reminder of the meaning of the word: Emotion, which is “Energy in Motion.”
It is important there is no straying from actual word meanings as we go through the Emotions Wheel. With regular self-checks, as to what the words represent to us and how they make us feel also.
Likewise. If we are to improve on our personal emotional states. It is important that we address those states in which we find ourselves, correctly.
Firstly. In order to identify and clarify the state we experience.
Secondly. The method we use to relieve us of the unwanted state, needs to be effective.
That may sound obvious, yet how many of us can honestly say we do so?
If we cannot correctly identify our emotional states, how can we expect to rid ourselves of them?
When looking to improve on either our or others personal states. We may – by way of encouragement – offer the phrase: Face your fear. After all, if we’re to personally make an improvement. We must begin right where we are.
What that literally means, is we face that which is upsetting us in the moment, without giving it power over us. This can be achieved successfully, when we remember that we are not our emotions. We’re just passing through a particular emotional state – or rather, an emotional state is passing through us – and it will soon pass. So how is this achieved exactly?
*Recognise we’re going through an emotional state that we wish to dispel.
*Sit with the emotion without giving it power. By acknowledging its presence and allowing it to move on through you – not as you. Causing it to dispel.
All energy must have a free-flowing path (energy in motion). When we fight our emotions, they are allowed to stagnate as they remain with us longer than necessary. They then have power over us, causing further hardship.
When we are terrified, we are deeply afraid and may feel intimidated to some extent. Our hair may stand on end and a feeling of deep disturbance overcomes us.
The Britannica Dictionary states: –
Terrified: Extremely afraid.
Panic: A state or feeling of extreme fear that makes someone unable to act or think normally.
A situation that causes many people to become afraid and to rush to do something.
Hysterical: Feeling or showing extreme and uncontrolled emotion.
Again. If anyone finds themselves in such states, or in need of advice. Do not suffer in silence.
Next Week, we’re discussing: – Fear: Insecure – Inferior, Inadequate.
